The Freight Innovation Fund is a programme which will help accelerate the adoption of commercially ready solutions into the sector.
On 1st May 2024, a £1.8 million boost was added to the fund which will help to deliver innovative technology across the industry.
The tech will be used to decarbonise freight and boost the UK supply chain. This is part of the government’s plan to grow the UK economy.
SMEs will be able to receive up to £1.8 million in funding, which can be used to support the freight sector in implementing automation technology and AI to improve the way goods and parcels are moved.
Roads Minister, Guy Opperman, said:
“The freight and logistics sectors are part of our economy’s backbone, ensuring supermarket shelves are stocked, hospitals receive crucial medical supplies and important deliveries are made.”
“That’s why, as part of the government’s plan to grow the economy, the Freight Innovation Fund is supporting businesses to innovate and back skilled UK jobs.”
