Mike Gilmore is the excise policy lead in the Holding and Movement and Modernisation team in HMRC.
Mike has worked in HMRC, and before that HM Customs and Excise, for over 35 years.
His current team is responsible for all holding and movement policy including excise warehousing, EMCS, duty Free and Drawback. They are also responsible for the excise elements of UK negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and Gibraltar, excise implementation of the Windsor Framework and Simplification and Modernisation.
Mike has previously worked in other policy areas including leading on excise policy for EU exit and tobacco policy as well as spending most of his early career in excise and customs compliance, investigation and detection.
