Minister Leo Docherty, responsible for Europe, emphasized the significance of enhancing collaboration between the United Kingdom and Greece during his meeting with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou in London on the 30th of January.
Ever since the signing of the Bilateral Framework agreement in 2021, the relationship between the United Kingdom and Greece has flourished significantly. The trade volume between these two nations has surged to an impressive £10.7 billion, indicating a robust economic partnership. Furthermore, the armed forces of both countries have forged a closer bond, fostering enhanced cooperation. Additionally, in the past year alone, we have successfully established nine higher education agreements, which serve as a testament to our shared interests and advantages.
The Ministers have reached a consensus to strengthen these burgeoning connections even more in the upcoming year, with a particular emphasis on continuing efforts to address common obstacles such as the disruption of organized migration routes, enhancing security cooperation, and collaborating towards achieving a peaceful resolution in both the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine.
