Portico Shipping partners with University of Westminster to give students real-world insight into global trade

Portico Shipping has strengthened its commitment to industry–academic collaboration through a recent engagement with students at University of Westminster.

As part of the university’s Professional Experience in Global Trade and Business module, students were given direct exposure to real-world shipping operations during a dedicated visit hosted by the company. Members of the Portico Shipping team shared practical insights into day-to-day logistics, highlighting operational challenges and decision-making processes within the global trade sector.

The session aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering students a clearer understanding of how international shipping functions beyond the classroom. By drawing on live industry experience, the initiative provided valuable context to complement academic learning.

Portico Shipping described the collaboration as a key step in supporting the next generation of professionals.

The initiative reflects a broader trend of closer ties between academia and industry, designed to better prepare graduates for the demands of global business.
