In a departure from previous years, the BWA invited Mike Gilmore, HMRC Excise Policy Lead, to be this year’s guest speaker.
While the event has traditionally featured a Member of Parliament, this year’s focus shifted towards providing members with direct insight from HMRC on the latest developments in excise policy. The change was well received, giving attendees the opportunity to hear first-hand about current priorities, policy considerations and the challenges facing both HMRC and the industry.
Mike delivered an informative and engaging speech, offering valuable updates on current excise policy developments and the direction of future policy, as well as sharing details on his 35+ year career.

The event once again highlighted the importance of engagement between government and industry. Bringing members together in the unique setting of the House of Commons provided an excellent opportunity to share experiences, strengthen professional relationships and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
Members enjoyed the chance to reconnect with colleagues, meet new contacts and exchange ideas in an informal setting.

The BWA would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mike Gilmore for giving his time and sharing his expertise, as well as to everyone who attended and contributed to another memorable and successful event. We also thank the House of Commons staff for their professionalism and hospitality.
We would also like to give our thanks to this years sponsors:
