Delivered in partnership with Exergy3 and Cochran, and funded by the UK Government’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero, the innovative system replaces up to 100% of the fossil fuels traditionally used to generate the high-temperature steam required for distilling by storing excess renewable electricity as heat at temperatures of up to 1,200°C.
The cutting-edge technology demonstrates how Scotland’s historic whisky industry can embrace a more sustainable future without compromising its heritage.
Visitors will now be able to discover the revolutionary Exergy3 hub and learn about Annandale Distillery’s net-zero ambitions as part of the official distillery tour, showcasing how innovation and centuries-old craftsmanship are working together to shape the future of Scotch whisky.
