The UK Government has now published its White Paper referred to as the Customs Bill. This White Paper sets out the government’s approach to legislating for a future customs regime, and to creating a framework that supports intra-European trade.
As well as providing for implementation of a negotiated settlement with the EU – our preferred outcome – the Bill will provide for a range of other possible outcomes. This White Paper therefore also sets out how the government would manage leaving the EU without an agreement on customs, in the event of no deal being reached.

I would urge all members to read through this document carefully and  in particular look at pages 24/25. Your feedback is important and would be welcomed.

The BWA have already engaged and are continuing to engage with HMRC and the Treasury to make them aware of the business implications which included the initial feedback received from some of our members. We will do our best to keep everyone appraised of developments as and when decisions are made. It is also our intent to hold face to face forums with HMRC where members would be welcome to attend. The details are currently being worked on and will be communicated when known.
