THE BWA ACTIVITIES

A representative from the executive sits on the Joint Alcohol Trades Consultation Group.

BWA are signatories to the Excise Alliance with H.M.C & E, dedicated to developing co-operative approaches leading to detection of smugglers and fraudsters.

A publication by BWA of a new booklet on cask end stops with full approval of the Health & Safety Executive.

A BWA initiative on bar coding of casks has transformed warehousing activities in the whisky business. Adopted by S.W.A. and major companies this new data capture system has become the industry standard for the identification and control of maturing Scotch.

A number of seminars have been organised by the BWA to allow members and H.M.C & E representatives to discuss topics relevant to the drinks industry..

Members of the BWA were instrumental in advising and supporting H.M.C & E in preparation of the revised Public Notice 197 "Warehousing and Duty Suspension".
